Common Personal Care Items That Will Ruin Your Modern Bedding

Wanna zap that zit? Did you know that at any concentration benzoyl peroxide, used in many common acne medications, can bleach fabric? Yep, it is true. When benzoyl peroxide comes into contact with your sheets or duvet cover, it will leave orange streaky blobs where there was once beautiful color. We have received calls in the past from distraught customers who have had mysterious orange blotches show up on their beautiful new modern bedding asking what they can do about it. The sad truth is, once the color is bleached out of the bedding by benzoyl peroxide it is permanently damaged.

When you are battling a breakout, take care to protect your bedding. I will typically make sure that the sheets I am using at such a time are solid white and I will pull my duvet insert out of the cover and use just the solid white insert.

Same goes for hair color. Nothing will ruin beautiful bedding faster than freshly colored hair and like benzoyl peroxide the damage is permanent. It doesn’t matter if your has been bleached or colored, the result on your bedding is the same. Whenever I get my hair colored, I always switch my pillow cases to an old pair that I keep for just the occasion. I’ll keep these old cases on my bed for several days and several hair washes just to make sure that all of the excess color has been rinsed out of my hair.
